Out-of-office
message generator.
Create an out-of-office message that tells people when you’ll be back and who can help while you’re away.
What should an out-of-office reply say?
State when you expect to return, whether you will check email and who can handle urgent requests if cover is agreed. Ample’s free generator assembles a reply in your browser. Copy it into your email provider’s settings yourself; the generator does not send email or enable automatic replies.

What should an out-of-office message include?
State that you’re away, give your return date, explain whether you’ll check email, and name a contact for urgent requests if someone has agreed to cover. You don’t need to share the reason for your absence.

With a covering teammate
Thank you for your email. I’m out of the office until [return date] and won’t be checking messages. For urgent requests, contact [name] at [email or contact route]. I’ll review your message after I return.
Short and simple
I’m away from the office and will return on [date]. I’ll respond after I’m back. Thank you for your patience.
Limited email access
Thanks for reaching out. I’m out of the office until [date] with limited email access. Replies may take longer than usual. If your request can’t wait, contact [agreed covering contact].
Is the return date my last day off?
Use the day you expect to be back at work. If Friday is your last day away and you work Monday–Friday, your return date may be Monday. Check holidays and your own schedule before setting it.
What if nobody is covering my inbox?
Leave the urgent-contact field blank and set a clear expectation about replying after your return. Don’t name someone who hasn’t agreed to help.
Does this generator save my details?
The message is assembled in your browser. Your entries are not submitted to Ample or an AI service, and this tool does not save them to browser storage. If you allow analytics, copying records the resource name and page path, not your message or contact details.
